Who we are
We are the largest, locally-based independent housing association for older people operating exclusively within Hull and the East Riding. We offer our residents independent living in a choice of properties ranging from one bedroom flats to charming two bedroom bungalows, with easy access to a range of housing and community services.
With more than 1,200 properties for rent at convenient locations across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire, Pickering and Ferens Homes is a community in itself. The association has several village developments where flats and bungalows are located close to sheltered housing schemes. The residents are at the heart of the association.
Pickering and Ferens Homes is committed to listening to its residents and involving them in the association’s everyday running. A network of Pop-In centres, run by volunteers, enables residents to socialise and enjoy leisure activities such as coffee mornings and bingo sessions. Many are even equipped with computers so residents can use the internet and send emails.
Residents are also encouraged to play an active role in the association by joining groups like the Local Area Forums, or running for resident trustee as part of Pickering and Ferens Homes’ Board. There is also a Residents’ Committee, which allows residents to have their say, and an Editorial Committee, which plans the association’s quarterly magazine, People First.
Pickering and Ferens Homes is a non-profit making registered Housing Association (A4020), a registered charity (No 1014862) and a member of the National Almshouse Association (No 981).
