Pickering and Ferens Homes

Welcome

Pickering and Ferens Homes is the largest locally based independent Housing Association for older people operational exclusively within Hull and East Yorkshire.

Board of Trustees

As part of Pickering and Ferens Homes dedication to keeping our residents involved and making the best of the association our board is now made up of two nominated resident Trustees, two nominated Kingston upon Hull City Council Trustees, and eight co-opted Trustees.  The Board of Trustees meets on a bi-monthly basis.

Our resident Trustees are nominated and voted for by our residents and also attend quarterly meetings of the Resident Committee to act as their representation. As stated in the association’s trust deeds, our co-opted Trustees are all persons who either through residence, occupation or otherwise have a special knowledge of Kingston-upon-Hull.

Each of our Trustees does their job on a completely voluntary basis and is appointed for a period of four years.  No Trustee can be appointed for a period of more than 3 terms of 4 years.

Whilst the Board has overall responsibility for every aspect of the business of the association it cannot deal with all details of it’s affairs and has delegated some decisions to committees, working groups or staff.

The main purpose of the various committees is to consider policy issues and make recommendations to the Board.  The committees also review the performance of the Association on an ongoing basis.

There are three Committees:

  • Appraisal and Remuneration Committee
  • Audit and Risk Management Committee, and
  • Resident Committee.
