Gas Servicing
The Gas Servicing Process
The association is responsible for servicing the gas appliances in your home that we provide, including central heating systems and gas fires. Unless we have provided them, we will not service resident’s own gas appliances such as cookers and other gas heaters.
For your safety we service gas appliances at least once every twelve months. It is extremely important that you allow us access to carry out this work. If necessary we may take legal action to gain entry to your home to ensure that this essential safety work is carried out. If we have to take legal action we will recharge the cost of this to you. The association’s approved registered gas servicing contractor will inform you when he is going to carry out the servicing of your gas appliances.
Please ensure you do not obstruct the fresh air vent to any gas appliance.
If you think any of your gas appliances are faulty contact:
The maintenance section on: (01482) 212360 (during normal working hours) or
The call centre on: 0845 057 7087 (out of normal working hours)
IF YOU SMELL GAS
• DO NOT smoke or strike matches
• DO NOT turn lights or electrical switches on or off
• DO contact the National Gas Emergency Service Provider immediately on: 0800 111 999 (24 hour service)
• DO put out any naked flames

Please note, gas appliances that you have installed are your own responsibility. Always use a registered gas fitter for servicing purposes.
GAS SAFE REGISTER
From the 1st April 2009 the ‘Council for Registered Gas Installers’ (C.O.R.G.I.) registration scheme will be replaced by the Gas Safe Register.
The Gas Safe Register is the official Gas Registration body for Great Britain (GB) and the Isle of Man, appointed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for Great Britain and HSWI for the Isle of Man.
The Gas Safe Register is run by Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Ltd a division of Capita Group Plc.
Anyone carrying out work on gas must be registered with the Gas Safe Register.
Only a Gas Safe Registered engineer is legally allowed to install gas appliances, boilers, hobs, ovens or fires in your home or workplace.
Every Gas Safe Registered engineer will carry an ID card with their own unique license number, showing the type of gas work they are qualified to do. Before any gas work is carried out in your home always make sure you ask to see their Gas Safe Register ID card.
