PFH Chosen Charity 2019

As part of our employee recognition programme’s “Charity Challenge” scheme each year, an age related charity is chosen by us to support through fundraising or volunteering. Each staff member is given the opportunity to spend a day off work supporting the Charity by:

  • Raising funds through various fundraising ideas, challenges and events.
  • Helping with planning and organisation of these events.
  • Supporting the chosen charity through volunteering at the events.

This year we have chosen to support Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group; please see below for further details of their amazing work:


Butterflies – Memory Loss Support Group

Butterflies provides a safe environment and helps people with memory loss build the confidence to continue living life to the full. The group regularly holds trips and outings to museums, gardens and exhibitions, including North Yorkshire Railway, Eden Camp, Wilderspin School and Whitby.

Aims

  • Bridge gaps between diagnosis and later stages
  • Support living well at home
  • Act as a support network for carers and the cared for
  • Support and help to find coping strategies for all family members
  • Provide opportunities for growth and transcendence
  • Give hope
  • Sign post
Through its work, it:

  • Improves well being
  • Builds confidence and self esteem
  • Gives purpose
  • Reduces stigma and raises awareness across the generations
  • Gives families the tools to care well
  • Helps People find the services they need

Ultimately, Butterflies and PFH promote the fact that there is life after a diagnosis of dementia.
