PFH Chosen Charity 2020

As part of our employee recognition programme’s “Charity Challenge” scheme each year, an age related charity is chosen by us to support through fundraising or volunteering. Each staff member is given the opportunity to spend a day off work supporting the Charity by:

  • Raising funds through various fundraising ideas, challenges and events.
  • Helping with planning and organisation of these events.
  • Supporting the chosen charity through volunteering at the events.

This year we have chosen to support Dove House Hospice; please see below for further details of their amazing work:

Dove House Hospice

Dove House Hospice is your local hospice, and has been caring for people in Hull and East Yorkshire for almost 40 years.

Patients and families are at the heart of everything we do, whether we are caring for people at the end of their lives, providing therapies to help people with life limiting illnesses improve their quality of life, or giving much needed bereavement support to grieving families. Our special person-centred care focusses on the needs of the person we are caring for, not just their illness, and staff take the time to get to know patients and their families to help make staying at Dove House a home from home experience.

The hospice is situated on Chamberlain Road in Hull, and is set in beautiful gardens where patients and families can spend precious time together in a quiet and peaceful setting, making memories.

There are a range of services available for people over the age of eighteen years who have a life-limiting, progressive or terminal illness, including cancer, neurological illnesses, heart and respiratory disease, dementia and HIV/AIDS.

At Dove House specialist care means special care, embracing patients and families with warmth, understanding and compassion from the point of diagnosis onwards.
