Pickering and Ferens Homes appeals for new trustee to step forward and join its dedicated board

Hull’s largest independent housing association for the over-60s is in search of a new co-opted trustee to join its dedicated board.

Pickering and Ferens Homes’ board consists of two nominated resident trustees and two Hull City Council nominated trustees, along with eight co-opted trustees who work on a voluntary basis.

Now, following on from the expiration of Professor Ian Colquhoun’s trusteeship, after nearly 15 years with the organisation, a vacancy for a new co-opted trustee has arisen.

Roger Elliot, director of Pickering and Ferens – which manages over 1,200 properties – says the board is keen to gain a trustee with either accountancy, financial, architectural or development knowledge and experience.

He said: “I believe this presents an excellent opportunity for a dedicated individual to make a real and positive contribution to helping people over the age of 60 with their housing needs and requirements.

“The successful applicant will be joining an organisation which is financially viable, dedicated to providing the best services possible, and one which believes in continuous improvement in all areas.

“The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for all matters concerning the association, with the key purpose being to determine strategic direction and policy, ensuring that the association continues to achieve its aims and objectives.”

The successfully appointed trustee will be required to attend six board meetings each year, as well as other occasional meetings and ongoing training.
