A series of activity packs have been launched to help people who live and work in social housing to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Saturday 15 August marks 75 years since VJ Day and the Royal British Legion and National Memorial Arboretum have worked with a group of housing organisations, including Citizen, Housing 21, Orbit and Anchor Hanover, to create packs to help residents and staff mark the occasion.
The packs are available online and give people the opportunity to engage with VJ Day in an interactive, fun way. There is a pack for adults and children as well as a VJ Day quiz.
Claire Warren, Chief Executive of Pickering and Ferens Homes, said: “We are delighted to be part of an effort to mark this hugely significant moment in history.
“VE Day was celebrated across the UK and in many ways the 75th anniversary of VJ Day is every bit as momentous.
“The Second World War continued for months after VE Day in the Far East and it is really important that we remember this.
“The activity packs are a great way for people to get involved and learn more about this important day in our history. We’re proud to support this project.”
