PFH residents donate to worthy cause

Residents from Pickering and Ferens Homes have been getting busy with their knitting needles after providing vast amounts of blankets and clothing for the Wheelchair Foundation.

Knitted and crochet blankets, bonnets, hats, cardigans and jumpers have been sent to the Wheelchair Foundation to take to South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.

The blankets are given to people who need wheelchairs, some of which have been housebound for lots of years. Bonnets, cardigans and jumpers, as well as toys, are taken to local orphanages in those countries, with many babies and children orphaned due to the AIDS epidemic in those countries.

Chris Suich from the Wheelchair Foundation has provided her personal thanks to residents for their time, money and strong partnerships with the Foundation over the past years.
