We are looking for a Head of Finance to join us in this fundamental role to ensure we provide an effective high quality financial management service to the association and continue to deliver excellent customer service to our residents. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only be responsible for operational delivery but to lead on improvements to our financial service.

It is envisaged, that this role will offer the opportunity for you to work from home or another location 50% of your working week if suitable. Ideally, the successful candidate will live within a commutable distance of our offices in Hull.

Key responsibilities include: –

  • Leading the associations internal and external financial analysis and reporting processes by developing appropriate strategies, processes and systems to continuously improve financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, risk management and control; supporting the achievement of PFH’s long-term objectives.
  • Leading and managing a team of 4 including the Finance Manager, Assistant Accountant and Finance Officers.
  • Ensuring corporate wide policies and procedures are robust and are reviewed in line with the organisation’s policy review timetable.
  • Oversee PFH’s cash flow and capital expenditure monitoring and control processes to ensure that the association can continue to operate within its available cash reserves, can meet its obligations as they fall due, and can realise its strategic plans.
  • Lead on the review and development of financial and performance systems and processes in the team and across the association, ensuring that the most efficient and effective methods are used to manage the business. This includes constantly reviewing and updating processes and practises.

The ideal candidate will have: –

  • CCAB qualification with extensive experience of preparing statutory accounts and developing practice from regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience and track record of improving financial performance and leading a team with a key focus on re-engineering processes to achieve more efficient and effective ways of working.
  • Experience of developing systems of risk management and internal control.
  • A good understanding and experience of working with the SORP applicable to Housing Associations is desirable or experience of working within a highly regulated sector.
  • A strong commitment and drive to providing high quality customer service.
  • Should working from home be an appropriate and desired way of working for part of the working week a quiet workspace and fast, reliable broadband connection, preferably fibre optic is essential.
