We’re excited and proud to share how a £10,000 Digital Inclusion Grant from KCOM has helped enhance our Try Before You Apply scheme, giving people the opportunity to experience modern, accessible living before making long-term housing decisions.
Located at Ada Holmes Circle, the SMART-enabled apartment has been designed to help people explore how technology, thoughtful design and practical adaptations can support independence, dignity and quality of life as they get older.
Thanks to the grant, the apartment is now equipped with over 60 different products, allowing residents to try a wide range of SMART technology and aids during their stay. This includes voice-controlled lighting and curtains, smart reminders via an Alexa Smart Hub, discreet safety adaptations and more, all within a stylish, homely environment.
The apartment reflects our SMART vision Supportive, Modern, Accessible, Responsive and Transformative, putting choice in the hands of residents. The project has been delivered in partnership with PROCare Shower and Bathroom Centre and Eden Mobility, whose expertise has helped ensure the apartment is both practical and fully accessible.
