Pickering & Ferens Homes (PFH) is strengthening its commitment to independent living and meeting growing housing demand with continued investment in high-quality new homes across Hull and East Yorkshire.
The organisation’s Orchard Garth development, completed in 2023, alongside the ongoing Peartree Apartments project, showcases PFH’s focus on delivering modern, accessible homes designed to support residents to live independently for longer. The development includes bungalows and apartments with thoughtful layouts, attractive landscaped grounds, and easy access to local amenities.
PFH currently manages more than 1,450 homes across the region and continues to build new homes every year, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality housing for older people in the local community. With demand for suitable housing rising significantly, particularly among older residents, developments like Orchard Garth play a vital role in supporting healthier, more independent lives.
Chair of the Board at PFH said,
“At PFH, we are committed to building high-quality homes that enable people to live independently, safely and with dignity. Developments like Orchard Garth and Peartree Apartments demonstrate how we are responding to growing demand, while creating environments that truly enhance residents’ quality of life. Our continued investment ensures we can support both current and future generations across our communities.”
PFH’s work is strengthened through collaboration at both regional and national level. As part of the Hull and East Yorkshire Housing Partnership with support the Northern Housing Consortium, PFH is working alongside 24 housing providers collectively managing more than 48,000 homes and delivering nearly 1,000 new homes across the area. This partnership approach is central to accelerating housing delivery, unlocking investment, and supporting long-term economic growth.
A recent visit to PFH from Luke Cambell MBE, Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire included a tour of Orchard Garth, and the opportunity to chat to residents about moving in, and how they find their new homes.
He said:
“It’s great to see the difference developments like Orchard Garth are making for local people. We know demand for good-quality, accessible homes is only going to grow, so it’s important we keep working together across Hull and East Yorkshire to deliver the homes our communities need. At the end of the day, residents here want somewhere safe, comfortable and close to the area they know and love. Developments like this mean they can stay independent and live well for longer.”
